Phase 2 - Spruce Wash Technical Feasibility Study

Phase 2

The Phase II Feasibility Study conducted by Peak Engineering and JE Fuller identified a suite of projects to be constructed with the $26 million in funding from Prop 441. This study, formally titled the “Spruce Wash Watershed Management Plan Feasibility Phase 2 Drainage Technical Memorandum” is available for members of the community to read here. It includes details of the recommended projects, as well as new maps predicting the flood risk in the Spruce Wash once the projects are complete (anticipated in 2026).

It is important to keep in mind several things when reading the report and viewing the maps. First, final project designs may vary from those modeled and changes will be modeled and the maps updated. Second, a 2-inch in 45-minute storm event was used in the study for analysis. Storms of different sizes may produce different results. Third, the study uses 2022 watershed conditions and watershed conditions change over time. Fourth, the results show the conditions after the entire suite of projects is complete. Some improvements are dependent on others to reduce downstream impacts and that will be addressed through the implementation of the projects.

Please keep in mind reminded that none of these projects have been constructed to date and accordingly, the benefits of these projects have not been realized. The current conditions flood risk assessment map, which shows the flood risk to properties right now, is available for viewing here and should be used by residents when planning mitigations.
